China's New Gravity-1 Rocket Launches Satellites from Sea

A private aerospace enterprise in China successfully launched the most powerful solid-fuel rocket from a ship. The Gravity-1 was blasted from a ship off the eastern coast of Shandong province. The rocket has a thrust of 600 tonnes and can lift 6,500kg of cargo into near earth orbit. That's nearly twice as much weight as the European Space Agency's Vega-C, the previous record holder. Gravity-1's launch being from a mobile sea platform increases the number of potential launch sites.
