Youtube Democracy vs. Despotism as seen in Fahrenheit 9/11 https://youtu.be/AX67CSAmlnI explains the strategic value of information, and why advertiser free media is really important. Building on that, swag like t-shirts, hats, mugs, totes, are triple duty. You needed the clothing/article, it provides who you're supporting with $, it also provides them with advertising AND you with a conversation starter with which you can then pique people's interest to subscribe to the information like I demonstrate in this video: Rational National Secular Talk Humanist Report Status Coup Jamarl Thomas TBTV The Benjamin Dixon Show Christo Aivalis Redacted Tonight/Moment Of Clarity Real News Network Democracy Now Jacobin Beau Of The Fifth Column Real Progressives (channel and MMT Playlist) Watch "#MMTMondays" on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLLGRRZ7Cym33h_oI-kHG7vfIANTpqfML9 Real Progressives In Action Matt Orfalea Top Five (minimum) Rational National Secular Talk Status Coup Redacted Tonight Real News Network if those are appreciated, subscribe them to Jacobin so that they can understand strategy. Important steps described in the video: These channels are being suppressed. They will almost certainly not come up accidentally in someone's feed. People don't like being manipulated by the YouTube algorithm, or corporate media. They also don't like being manipulated or pressured by you either. All you can do is point these things out and offer. As long as they don't say no, with some people it literally takes weeks or even a month or two to get around to letting you to enter it onto their phone for them, but in two cases they have put bumper stickers on their cars and rally signs in their windows. It is important you type it in yourself as most people who have it on a piece of paper won't get around to it, and then rationalize afterwards that they aren't that interested, that you get them to hold onto your phone while you do so, that you explain to them that it is not homework, that they will be better informed even if they just read a few headlines ala the checkout counter analogy, that they can always change the notification bell themselves (show them how), but it's better if they stay subscribed so if a big news story comes up they know where to look in case they want other opinions. Building on Democracy vs. Despotism, you can also watch The Corporation, specifically about what is wrong with corporate media https://youtu.be/eZkDikRLQrw The whole documentary https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFA50FBC214A6CE87 What I've learned about US Foreign Policy http://www.addictedtowar.com/dorrel.html Older version for free https://www.filmsforaction.org/watch/what-ive-learned-about-us-foreign-policy/ All of the newer versions of "What I've learned about US Foreign Policy" are missing this segment, which came right after the MLK introduction: https://youtu.be/_sstDwKTCpM https://billmoyers.com/content/secret-government-constitution-crisis/ Manufacturing Consent from Noam Chomsky the 5 filters https://youtu.be/34LGPIXvU5M https://youtu.be/tTBWfkE7BXU https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propaganda_model#Filters Filters Ownership Advertising Sourcing Flak Anti-Communism and fear https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manufacturing_Consent Full Documentary https://youtu.be/EuwmWnphqII Two books by Jane F. The powers that be don't care about you or what you want,, let alone democracy. Civil disobedience is only useful to attract marchers and protesters, which only work as PR for strikes, wild cat strikes, economic boycotts, and economic disruption like shutting down ports, power grids, and other strategic targets.
