According to Iranian state media, Iran has reached a deal to buy advanced Su-35 fighter planes from Russia. The air force of sanctions-hit Iran has an ageing fleet of aircraft and has struggled to acquire spare parts to keep its warplanes in the air. However, the Iranian mission to the UN did not specify exactly when the deal was completed or how many aircraft Iran would receive from Russia.
