Live sheep export ban not based on ‘credible’ scientific data: National Farmers’ Federation

National Farmers’ Federation President Fiona Simson warns a proposed ban on live sheep exports will incur consequences and damage Australia’s reputation amongst international trading partners. “Australia is actually globally leading in terms of the live exports that we do,” Ms Simson told Sky News Australia. “When governments start to make decisions that are not actually based on science and based on credible, factual, independent data – then that actually raises a flag for the rest of industry. “If the government is going to make a decision on this one, what about when it comes to some of the other issues that we have to deal with regularly in Agriculture?”
