Brian Houston stood down as Global Senior Pastor of Hillsong - the announcement

On the 30th of January 2022, Hillsong Church congregants across all campuses were shocked to witness a video during the morning services from Brian and Bobbie Houston. Brian was standing down from all leadership roles, pending the resolution of criminal charges brought by NSW Police concerning Brian's concealment of his father Frank's child sex offences against up to nine boys. Brian had previously been stood down from all Board positions at Hillsong's 20+ corporate entities in 2021, but endured criticism when it was pointed out that Hillsong's own company constitution stipulated that the Senior Pastor is automatically the Chairman of every Board. Brian therefore was forced to step down as Senior Pastor while ever he remains stood down from those boards. This video is the announcement made to the congregation and its network.
