The House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol has revealed new details about former President Donald Trump's efforts to pressure the Justice Department to help him stay in power after he lost the 2020 election. In the committee's fifth televised public hearing Thursday, former top DOJ officials testified about how Trump urged the department to seize voting machines and declare the election results corrupt. One of the former top DOJ officials who testified was Trump's former acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, who described a phone conversation with President Trump in which he tried to reject his repeated false claims.
