The war in the Pacific during World War 2 claimed thousands of lives in a series of furious battles in which the Allied Navies and the Imperial Japanese Navy fought over the control of the sea. Men and ship alike found their final resting place at the bottom of the sea. Today, the wrecks are considered historic heritage sites and protected by international laws to honor the fallen seamen. These protections are meant to honor their memories and allow them to spend eternity in peace at the bottom of the ocean. Nonetheless, that has not stopped Chinese grave robber ships such as Chuan Hong 68 from ravaging the South China Sea. There are images showing the scavenger before and after looting the wreck site of Royal Navy World War 2 HMS Prince of Wales and HMS Repulse, sunk in December 1941.
