“We want to reform the bad and preserve the good”: How govt will fund AUKUS subs

Shadow Defence Minster Andrew Hastie says in order to fund the new AUKUS nuclear submarines deal there will need to be “reform” of government-funded organisations to increase spending efficiency. “The NDIS is a good program and it helps thousands of Australians across the country, but we do have to be realistic, we can’t just spend, and spend, and spend,” he told Sky News host Sharri Markson. “We do have to have a budget, we have to keep to budget, and that’s why we’ll be holding this government to account going forward.”
