It was made by Hollywood Film Enterprises Inc. The film follows a steamer that sails from Puerto Montt, through the Strait of Magellan, to the city of Punta Arenas. Punta Arenas, an important stop for ships sailing to the West Coast of the US before the opening of the Panama Canal, is shown in a state of relative decay. The film highlights this steamer service as essential, because it is the only connection to the outside world. The film also features stunning aerial footage of islands in the Tierra del Fuego. 0:09 “Southern Chile: Tip of a Continent”, an instructional film produced by Hollywood Film Enterprises Inc., directed by Clifford J.
