In a rare move, the White House branded two separate shootings that took the lives of a Palestinian and an Israeli as “terror attacks,” Analysts say that the pair of condemnations indicated Washington placed the attacks on equal footing. The US State Department issued two tweets within a minute of each other on the evening of August 5, using very similar language. The tweets “strongly” condemned the terrorist attack in Tel Aviv as well as “terror attack by Israeli extremist settlers.” In case of the first tweet, the US state department was referring to the August 5 killing of an Israeli security official In Tel Aviv.
