The Australian unemployment rate is expected to rise from 3.5 per cent to 3.6 per cent despite the creation of new jobs and the participation rate reaching impressive levels, particularly for women. With increased pressure from interest rates and mortgages, dual-income households are becoming increasingly vital for many families. Forecasts predict that unemployment rates may continue to rise with increased migration to Australia in the coming years. Reserve Bank Governor aims to gradually guide inflation back into the preferred 2-3 per cent range by 2025, allowing higher inflation to protect jobs in the interim.
