Four children—aged 13, 9, 4, and just shy of 12 months old—miraculously survived 40 days in the Amazon jungle following a plane crash and have recently recounted details of their fight for survival. The children have disclosed only a limited amount of information, yet offer a chilling glimpse into their extraordinary survival. Among the heart-wrenching revelations was the tragic news that their mother had managed to survive the initial crash but succumbed to her injuries four days later. According to authorities and family members, the children’s survival hinged on their resourcefulness by eating cassava flour, which was being transported on the aircraft, per the AP. Once the flour ran out, the kids later ate seeds and the fruits in the jungle they were familiar with. The Cessna single-engine propeller plane was carrying a total of four children and three adults when the engine failed.
