Thousands cheered on Nigerian chef Hilda Baci as she cooked for more than 93 straight hours, setting a new Guinness World Record. RELATED: Pancake portraits of pets made by talented Japanese chef t.ly/tXLN Nigerian chef Hilda Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, spent nearly four exhausting days last month cooking enough food to feed hundreds of her fellow Nigerians while simultaneously making history. And now it's finally official. On Tuesday, the Guinness Book of World Records announced that the 26-year-old officially holds the record for the longest individual cooking marathon. Baci commenced the cook-a-thon on May 11 and wouldn't stop until May 15, logging 100 hours in the makeshift kitchen in front of hundreds of cheering spectators in Lagos, Nigeria. Baci, founder of the restaurant and delivery service "My Food by Hilda" who has appeared on various televised cooking segments, had to settle for a shorter time than she sought. The Guinness World Record committee deducted nearly seven hours from that time because one of her allotted breaks lasted too long. But she still set a new record as her official time of 93 hours and 11 minutes surpassed the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes achieved in 2019 by Indian chef Lata Tondon. » Subscribe to USA TODAY: http://bit.ly/1xa3XAh » Watch more on this and other topics from USA TODAY: https://bit.ly/38Tzndx » USA TODAY delivers current local and national news, sports, entertainment, finance, technology, and more through award-winning journalism, photos, videos and VR. #Nigeria #GuinnessWorldRecords #Cooking
