Lawyer Robert Barnes says the indictment of former president Donald Trump shows “deep constitutional problems” as intelligence agencies are being put “above the president”. “There is deep constitutional problems with the indictment of the president that go beyond just the fact he’s … the former president,” Mr Barnes told Sky News host James Morrow. “This indictment threatens the independence and the democratic nature of the elected executive branch by putting the agencies above the president. “This indictment says … the national security intelligence community can indict an elected president even though they are unelected if he merely discloses their secrets to the American people.”
