A former Oxford High School student wounded in the 2021 attack on her school recounted her harrowing ordeal in a suburban Detroit courtroom on Friday. Kylie Ossege (O’-sayj) spoke as a judge considered whether one of her former classmates will serve a life sentence for the mass shooting. Crime victims in Michigan have a right to speak in court, and the final hearing in Pontiac was tense and emotional. “Fifteen minutes of lying in a pool of my own blood,” Ossege said, crying. “Fifteen minutes of hearing (shooting victim) Hana St. Juliana’s last sounds while stroking her hair and trying to encourage her.” Seventeen-year-old Ethan Crumbley could be locked up with no chance for parole for killing four fellow students and wounding others, a punishment sought by the Oakland County prosecutor. But because of the shooter's age, Judge Kwamé Rowe also could order a shorter sentence — anywhere from 25 years to 40 years at a minimum — that would eventually make him eligible for release by the state parole board. The shooter killed Tate Myre, Madisyn Baldwin, St. Juliana and Justin Shilling at the school in Oxford Township, about 40 miles (60 kilometers) north of Detroit. Six other students and a teacher also were wounded. #ethancrumbley #court #trial The New York Post is your source for breaking news, news about New York, sports, business, entertainment, opinion, real estate, culture, fashion, and more.
