Has the Family Tomb of Simon of Cyrene Been Found?

This is an informal slide presentation I shared privately with my patron group (https://www.patreon.com/jamesdtabor), providing them with the articles and resources I mention at the end with a discussion of ongoing advanced New Generation Sequencing DNA tests we will be conducting on the Shroud Tomb. Here's the story... A tomb was discovered in Jerusalem on November 10, 1941 in an intact, undisturbed tomb in the Kidron valley. It was excavated by Eleazar Sukenik, father of the famous Yigael Yadin--excavator at Masada. Sukenick was the first scholar to definitively declare that the Isaiah scroll found at Qumran was authentic and ancient, coming from the Herodian period. The tomb and its remains were properly published by the legendary Nahum Avigad, who assisted in the excavation, and makes for fascinating reading. The tomb contained 11 ossuaries, with 9 of them inscribed in Greek with an abundance of Hellenistic names. The names alone are quite fascinating. At that time one of them provided the first such example of a male Jew named Yaaqov/Jacob aka "James," a very rare name in Herodian Jerusalem. I have examined the ossuary inscribed "Simon" as well as "Alexander son of Simon," firsthand. In this short video I offer an overview. Alexander and Simon are also in Greek, but then Alexander's name repeated in Hebrew on the lid of the ossuary, with the word Cyrenian(in Hebrew but possibly misspelled) allows us to consider whether this is the Simon mentioned in the Gospel of Mark.
