Researchers at the University of California, Berkeley came up with the design for the bot, with its compressible body, based on the ability of cockroaches to squeeze through tiny gaps. It's hoped a version of the technology could one day be used to scurrying rapidly through tightly-packed debris in disaster zones, to find and reach trapped survivors.
