LIVE: Rishi Sunak faces Keir Starmer at PMQs as inflation slows

Inflation slowed at a faster-than-expected pace in June, amid a big fall in petrol prices and a slowdown in rising food costs. Prices, as measured by the consumer prices index (CPI), rose by 7.9pc in the year to June, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). This was down from 8.7pc in May and represents the lowest rate since March 2022, when prices were rising in the immediate aftermath of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
