Clearing the path for enhanced aircraft capabilities, the U.S. government has given the green light for the proposed sale of Infrared Search and Track (IRST) systems for F-16 fighter jets, along with related equipment, to Taiwan. This marks the 11th arms transfer to Taiwan since President Joe Biden assumed office in 2021. According to a statement from the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), the sale encompasses F-16 IRST systems and their integration, along with test support, aircraft and munitions assistance, spare parts, accessories, training for personnel, and a range of engineering, technical, and logistical support services. Following the State Department’s approval, the department stated that it had informed Congress regarding the arms deal. In this video, Defense Updates analyzes how the IRST sensor would enable the Taiwanese F-16 Viper to take on the Chengdu J-20 Stealth fighter ? #defenseupdates #usvschina #chinavstaiwan 🐦 Follow us on Twitter : https://twitter.com/Defense_Updates ► Narration by Scott Leffler (scottleffler.com) 🎵 Background Music courtesy of incompetech.com "Giant Wyrm" Kevin MacLeod (Licensed under Creative Commons)
