Japan Airlines: Officials Investigate Fatal Tokyo Plane Crash

Transport officials and police have begun separate investigations at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport a day after a fatal plane crash occurred on the runway. Security footage captured the exact moment the collision occurred between a passenger plane and a Japanese coast guard aircraft. Passengers onboard were filled with fear when smoke erupted inside the cabin and the side of the plane caught fire before all 379 passengers and crew members miraculously escaped the inferno. Japan Airlines apologised “for any inconvenience or concern” they may have caused to customers. JAL executives also revealed that the passenger jet had been given permission to land. Transport safety officials are investigating what led to the collision.
