In the eastern Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, the Ria Lounge bar is one of the few places still open after nearly a year and a half of war, writes Colin Freeman. While nearly all other decent watering holes have largely shut, it offers excellent pizza, cold drinks - and a welcome rest from the Donbas frontlines not too far away. So as my translator and I sat there browsing the menu last night at 7pm, we weren’t overjoyed to get a phone call dragging us away for an urgent interview on the far side of town. Work comes first though - and in this case, may have saved our lives. Shortly after we left, a thunderous missile blast shook the city - far louder and closer than the ones often heard echoing from the artillery duels in nearby Bakhmut.
