Tim Davie: Original 'serious' complaint about BBC presenter was received in May

The BBC did not question the unnamed presenter at the centre of an alleged sex scandal for almost two months after the corporation first received a complaint. The corporation said the police have requested it “pause its investigations” into allegations a presenter paid for explicit photographs of a young person while officers “scope future work”. The BBC has also pledged to “learn lessons” and review the existing complaints procedure. BBC director general Tim Davie said that the original complaint received in May “did not include an allegation of criminality but nonetheless was very serious”, and was therefore followed up by the corporate investigations team.
