Treasurer to reveal higher budget surplus than expected

Treasurer Jim Chalmers is set to reveal Australia’s first surplus in 15 years will be significantly higher than the $4.2 billion forecast in the budget. Economists remain concerned, however, that a rapid economic downturn could lead to Australia’s second recession in three years.
