Known as the "Ken and Barbie Killers," because of their good looks, Bernardo and Homolka raped, tortured, and killed at least three young women. Bernardo was a cunning and manipulative businessman who used his sales tactics to entice female victims, and his crimes only got worse when 17-year-old Homolka entered the picture. Karla Homolka was an active participant in the murders, and even participated sexually alongside and with the girls, mostly for Bernardo's affection and at his urging. Paul Bernardo was arrested in 1993 when his DNA matched a sample from one of the rape victims. Worried that her own involvement would become known to the police, Homolka scrambled to get a lawyer and arrange a plea deal with prosecutors, an act that became known as "The deal with the devil." Bernardo and Homolka attracted worldwide media attention when they were convicted of raping and murdering teenage girls, including Homolka's own sister, Tammy Homolka. Karla Homolka served only twelve years in prison for her part in the murders. Today, she lives a normal life with her husband and their three kids and and people are furious. Homolka has not been placed on Canada's National Sex Offenders Registry. This harrowing documentary about Canada's worst nightmare makes you wonder what sort of people the world is made up with.
