‘Horror few days for the ABC’: New twist in ex-commando’s defamation case

Sky News host Erin Molan says it has been a “horror few days” for Australia’s public broadcaster. Ms Molan said the ABC has announced its intent to revive a line of defence in a defamation case involving former special forces commando Heston Russell. “On Wednesday, the ABC's last remaining hope, the defence of 'public interest', was sensationally dropped,” she said. “Their barrister essentially, conceding defeat, acknowledging that Russell is entitled to judgement in his favour and that damages were now the sole remaining issue. It was back in court this morning, where the circus continued. “The ABC announcing its intent to now revive the 'public interest' defence. What? The same defence it dropped in a bombshell two days ago.”
