Las Palmas fire rages on as extreme heatwave continues

A forest fire kept raging in the Canary island of La Palma on Saturday forcing the evacuation of at least 500 people, authorities said. The fire started in the early hours of Saturday morning in Pinar de Puntagorda, a wooded area at the north of the Spanish island, as many European cities brace for extreme heat in the coming week.
