Holography is a #technique which enables a wavefront to be recorded initially and re-constructed later. #Holography is also known as #holograph, initiated from the Greek used for "whole description" or "whole picture". Holography is best known as a method of generating #3_dimensional_images but it also has a wide range of other applications. Generally, it is possible to make a hologram for any type of wave. A hologram, is made by superimposing a second wavefront (normally called as the reference beam) on the wavefront of interest thus recording the generated interference pattern on a physical medium. When the second wavefront illuminates the interference pattern, it is diffracted to reproduce the original wavefront. Holograms can also be #computer_generated by modelling the two wavefronts, and adding them digitally together.
