South Korea's Defence Minister Shin Won-sik visited the U.S. aircraft carrier Carl Vinson on November 22, amid growing tensions in the Korean peninsula. The Carl Vinson had arrived at a port in Busan on Tuesday (November 21) in a show of extended deterrence against North Korea's nuclear and missile programs, South Korea's navy said. The arrival of the aircraft carrier also came after North Korea said it had successfully placed its first spy satellite in orbit on Tuesday. Officials in South Korea and Japan, which first reported the launch, said they could not immediately verify whether a satellite was placed in orbit. Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said the U.S. military was still assessing whether the launch was a success or not. #northkorea #southkorea #usa n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
