Taiwan has revealed its first domestically manufactured submarine, marking a significant milestone in a project intended to enhance the island's defense capabilities and serve as a deterrent against the Chinese navy. President Tsai Ing-wen presided over the launch ceremony. Tsai Ing-wen, who initiated the plan when she took office in 2016, showed off the first of 8 new submarines in the port city of Kaohsiung. It has been named the Haikun after a mythical massive fish that can also fly, which appears in classic Chinese literature. In this video, Defense Updates reports on Taiwan's first indigenously developed submarine Haikun. #defenseupdates #HikumSubmarine #taiwanvschina Chapters: 00:11 INTRODUCTION 01:02 TAIWAN鈥檚 SUBMARINE MOVE 02:40 HAIKUN - THE FIRST OF 8 05:34 CHINESE REACTION 06:31 ANALYSIS 馃惁 Follow us on Twitter : https://twitter.com/Defense_Updates 鈻讹笍 Narration by Scott Leffler (scottleffler.com) 馃幍 Background Music courtesy of incompetech.com "Giant Wyrm" Kevin MacLeod (Licensed under Creative Commons)
