Millions of phone users in UK receive emergency test alert message

Phones around the UK sounded an alarm and vibrated for 10 seconds at 2.59pm on Sunday - a minute earlier than advertised. The alarm was accompanied by a message telling people about the service, which is designed to warn if there is a life-threatening emergency nearby.
