The Graduate Program in Development kicks off its seminar offerings on September 20 at 12 noon with a talk by a remarkable scholar, Simukai Chigudu, an associate professor of African politics at the University of Oxford’s Department of International Development. Prof Chigudu (who was previously a medical doctor in the UK’s NHS) has done a lot of exciting, award-winning work around race and identity citizenship, and global health. He will be speaking to us about his second, forthcoming book, which combines memoir, political, history, and culture criticism to show how colonialism continues to mould politics, society, and culture in Africa, and in Britain, and explore what it really means to decolonize.
