The Dream Detroit Skating Academy, founded by figure skaters Angela Blocker-Loyd and Candice Tamakloe, was launched as the first Black-owned figure skating academy in Detroit. Blocker-Loyd and Tamakloe grew up together as competitive African-American skaters.
