Three Palestinian Students Shot in Vermont

Three Palestinian college students have been shot near the campus of the University of Vermont in Burlington. Hisham Awartani, Tahseen Ali and Kenan Abdulhamid, were apparently confronted by their attacker before they were shot. Police have yet to confirm a motive, but say the three were wearing keffiyeh scarves, and speaking Arabic when they were attacked. They say that they are still investigating whether or not the incident was a hate crime. The 20-year-old school friends were apparently on their way to attend a family Thanksgiving dinner in the local area. Police named the shooter as Jason J Eaton, aged 48. The three victims met as students in Ramallah Friends School, a Quaker-run school in the West Bank, before moving to the US. All three of the men remain in hospital, with one of them having sustained potentially life-changing injuries.
