Calls mounting for NT government to urgently review Banned Drinkers Register

Calls are mounting for the Northern Territory government to urgently review the Banned Drinkers Register policy after suggestions its current method of application leaves workers subject to a “greater threat”. NT Opposition leader Lia Finocchiaro has suggested the policy was a “set and forget” approach from “failed Alcohol Policy Minister” Natasha Fyles. “There needs to be an urgent review into the Banned Drinkers Register to make sure that it's not actually costing people their lives – making sure that this isn’t a greater threat to life than what already exists because of the crime crisis plaguing the Northern Territory,” Ms Finocchiaro said during a media conference.
