North Korea has launched a “new type” of ballistic missile that landed in the waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan. According to South Korea, the missile was launched at a lofted angle on April 13 from a location near Pyongyang. The launch sparked fears in Japan that the weapon may land in or near the northern island of Hokkaido. The incident even prompted Tokyo to issue a J-alert, or evacuation order, which was withdrawn after 30 mins. Tensions on the Korean peninsula have been growing steadily, with North Korea firing 27 missiles in the last 100 days. The latest missile launch comes two days before the birthday of North Korea's founding leader Kim Il Sung. North Korea is celebrating Kim Jong-Un's 11th year in power this week and is expected to mark these anniversaries with a show of military progress. #northkorea #kimjongun #northkoreamissile Video: AP/AFP 0:00 - Introduction 0:24 - North Korea Test Launches “new Type” of Ballistic Missile 2:14 - is Kim Testing Solid-fuel Technology Rockets? 3:00 - How Solid-fuel Tech Makes a Difference 3:38 - Korean Peninsula on Edge n18oc_world n18oc_crux CRUX is your daily video news guide to the big events that are shaping our world.
