The Justice Department announced charges Friday against more than two dozen defendants in a wide-ranging investigation into fentanyl trafficking by the Mexico-based Sinaloa cartel. "Today, the Justice Department is announcing significant enforcement actions against the largest, most violent and most prolific fentanyl trafficking operation in the world," Attorney General Merrick Garland said in a press conference. "That operation is run by the Sinaloa cartel and fueled by Chinese precursor chemical and pharmaceutical companies." Charges were filed against 28 defendants — 23 of whom are based in Mexico, four in China and one in Guatemala. Three of the defendants are sons of Joaquín "El Chapo" Guzmán, the notorious drug kingpin who is serving a life sentence in the U.S. Full video: https://www.c-span.org/video/?527414-1/ag-garland-announces-multiple-indictments-mexican-cartel-fentanyl-trafficking Download the FREE C-SPAN Now App. https://www.c-span.org/c-spanNow/ Discover the C-SPAN Video Library at https://www.c-span.org/quickguide/ Explore C-SPAN's Free Educational Resources at https://www.c-span.org/classroom/ C-SPAN: Created by Cable in 1979.
