About the Speech: The adoption of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in September 2015 ushers in the next phase of the global development agenda. The broad scope of the new agenda for sustainable development gives cause for optimism, but also presents challenges for the signatories in terms of implementation. These challenges are compounded by mounting, long-term crises in the Mediterranean region and beyond - crises which, in many cases, demand immediate humanitarian response. In this context, Dr. David Nabarro, the newly appointed special adviser on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provided his perspective on implementing the SDGs. About the speaker: Dr. David Nabarro was appointed to the role of Special Adviser on the 2030 Development Agenda on 3 December 2015. In his previous role, Dr. Nabarro served as Special Envoy of the Secretary-General on Ebola, providing strategic and policy direction for the international response to the crisis.
