‘Holding our hand’: 2GB host slams government's misinformation bill

The Albanese government’s plan to introduce a social media misinformation bill is their way of “holding our hand," says 2GB host Michael McLaren. “I think underlying all of this, this is really the crux here is this idea in bureaucracy bill that ‘the average person is a fool, an idiot, they can’t determine what’s real and what’s not,” Mr McLaren told Sky News host Amanda Stoker. “Most things on social media are fake, most things on social media are ridiculous, they’re nonsense, they’re opinion, they’ve got no fact to them. “The vast majority of people … can determine bulldust from truth and we don’t need ACMA or dare I say it, a government body or even the government to be in there holding our hand, guiding us through.”
