JK Rowling has faced cancel culture again after a book festival in New Zealand decided to drop a Harry Potter quiz from the event for fear it would offend festival-goers following her heavily criticised comments about transgender people. The chairman of the Featherston Booktown Karukatea Festival said they wanted it to be a “welcoming” environment. "The overwhelming response was there was a risk around causing distress to particular members of the community and that was the last thing we wanted to do,” Peter Briggs said. "We always thought Booktown should be an inclusive, welcoming place for everyone, so we took the decision not to go with 'Harry Potter.” The Harry Potter author came under fire last year for tweets she made about the transgender community.
