Chico MacMurtrie and The Robotic Church

What are the most primitive aspects of the human condition? Can kinetic sculptures remind us of what it means to be alive? In 1991, visual artist Chico MacMurtie founded a collective of artists, technicians, and engineers called Amorphic Robotic Works that explores these very questions. Since the late 1980s, MacMurtrie has explored the intersection of robotic sculpture, new media installation, and performance. His work investigates organic life from deep within, finding geometry in all living systems.
