Drone Attack On Kyiv, "Doubts On Ukraine Nato Bid Put to Rest", Russia Sees F-16s As Nuclear Threat

A dozen Russian drones have struck Ukraine’s capital city Kyiv overnight on July 13, as per the local administration. Ukraine said its air defence units destroyed all the Russian Shahed drones that targeted Kyiv. Drone debris fell onto residential buildings, causing fires that killed one person and injured at least four, Kyiv authorities reported. Meanwhile, Russia claims that its forces intercepted four Storm Shadow missiles over the past day. Ukraine claims that its forces have advanced on Bakhmut's southern flank and solidified newly-taken positions. Russian FM Sergei Lavrov has said that Moscow is open to talks with Ukraine. However, he added that Russia’s stance on the issues that are required for the resolution of the situation in Ukraine remains unchanged. He also said that Russia perceives the transfer of F-16 fighters to Ukraine as a nuclear threat. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that the latest NATO summit had set Ukraine firmly on the road to membership in the alliance. Zelensky said that Ukraine had "established a foundation of security" for the first time since its transition to independent statehood.
