Is quantum computing just a fancy new buzzword, or is it the next revolution in physics?
I had the honor of discussing this with none other than John Preskill. This was one of John's only podcast interviews. We went deep, discussing artificial intelligence, the simulation hypothesis, lessons from Richard Feynman, and more!
John Preskill is the Richard P. Feynman Professor of Theoretical Physics at the California Institute of Technology, where he is also the Director of the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter. He is one of the most prolific and influential scientists of our time. He coined the term “quantum supremacy” and is a leading scientist in quantum information science and computation. Preskill's work on magnetic monopoles in Grand Unified Theories highlighted flaws in cosmological models, later addressed by cosmic inflation.
Known for his bets with Stephen Hawking and Kip Thorne, Preskill was elected to the National Academy of Sciences in 2014.
