‘Transformative’: Rental freeze plan could see Australians save billions

Greens MP Max Chandler-Mather says renters in Australia could save billions if a rent freeze is adopted. “What we know is that over the next year, if we do freeze rent increases, it could save renters across the country $4.9 billion, which breaks down to $2,200 per household,” he told Sky News Australia. “That’s paying for all your electricity bills and more, it’s covering food and groceries, it could cover a trip to the dentist, it would be transformative for millions of renters in this country.”
