Amid record-breaking heat, monsoon weather brought a dust storm to parts of Arizona. The low temperature recorded at Sky Harbor Airport on Monday morning was 95 degrees, breaking the previous record warm low of 93 and marking the eighth day in a row with low temperatures in the 90s. "We're in record-breaking heat wave right now, and the temperatures that we are experiencing … they're very abnormal, even for July standards," said Matt Salerno, a meteorologist with National Weather Service in Phoenix. Over the weekend, Arizona officials gave regulators new powers to inspect workplaces in industries where employees typically suffer heat-related illness.
