Congress may need short-term government funding law despite bipartisan deal

Congress is working to pass a budget deal to avoid a government shutdown right now. The US is operating under a two part funding plan that expires January 19th and February 2nd. Lawmakers reached a spending agreement over the weekend, but will likely need more time to pass any measure due to opposition from Republicans. Congress may now need to pass a short term funding bill in order to avoid a shutdown.
