A senior Hamas official has refused to accept that Hamas militants killed any civilians during the 7 October attacks on Israel. In an interview with the BBC, Mousa Abu Marzouk said that "women, children and civilians were exempt" from the 7 October attack. This claim is at odds with the reality of what happened on 7 October. There is a huge volume of evidence that unarmed civilians were deliberately targeted by Hamas. Marzouk also claimed that he did not have a list of hostages inside Hamas’ territory, claiming the Israeli “guests” were being held by “different factions”. Mousa Abu Marzouk is the Deputy Chairman of the Hamas Political Bureau. He’s had a leading political role in Hamas since the 1980s. Marzouk is second in command to Ismail Haniyeh, widely considered to be the overall political leader of Hamas. The Political Bureau is Hamas’ overarching governing body. It has been based in Qatar since 2012. This political body oversees all other wings of Hamas, which include the military “Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades”, a social services organisation and a media operations wing. Exactly how all of these bodies work together is kept secret, perhaps unsurprisingly since Hamas has been designated a terrorist organisation by the US and many others. One month on from the attack, Hamas’ denial that any civilians were killed is unlikely to bring a diplomatic solution to the current conflict any closer. #israel #palestine #gaza Subscribe here: http://bit.ly/ODNsubs TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ondemandnews Twitter: https://twitter.com/ODN Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ODN/ If you wish to purchase any of our clips for commercial use, please visit: http://www.itnproductions.co.uk/news/
