CUNY's First Cannabis Education Program | One to One

Two years after the state of New York made the sale of marijuana for recreational use legal, the first two licensed marijuana dispensaries have opened in New York City. At least 20 more are expected to open by the end of the year, part of what some predict will become a billion dollar business. Who stands to benefit from the marijuana boom, if it happens? In the fall of 2021 Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn launched a cannabis education program designed to enable blacks, who suffered the most harm from the criminalization of marijuana, to be entrepreneurs and participants in the cannabis industry. What exactly are students being taught and how have academics and community residents responded to this new program?
