Israel too ‘dismissive’ of Hamas prior to October 7 terror attacks

Concerns Israel was overly “dismissive” of Hamas prior to October 7 leading to a “strategic victory” for the terror group, Former senior Israeli official Emanuel Shahaf says. “It’s a combination of a lot of factors,” Mr Shahaf told Sky News Senior Reporter Caroline Marcus. “Being dismissive is one – our arrogance – looking at Hamas as a minor terror group, or not capable of doing what they did. “That was the main issue. “It’s basically a strategic victory for the other side, they got what they wanted, and we now are having to pick up after, and trying to save it by some kind of arrangement which will be reasonable for us and reasonable for the security in the region.”
