Former ‘Manson Family’ cult member and convicted murderer Leslie Van Houten, has been released from prison in California. Van Houten, just 19 at the time, was part of a group of the cultists that murdered Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in their Los Angeles home in 1969. They stabbed the couple multiple times, wrote slogans on the walls using their blood and carved the word ‘war’ into Leno’s abdomen. The founder and leader of the cult Charles Manson is thought to have slowly indoctrinated his followers with beliefs about an imminent and apocalyptic race war. It’s thought that the murders may have been an attempt by Manson to somehow bring about that race war. The cult was responsible for nine murders, but it’s thought they might be linked to at least a dozen more killings. Van Houten, a former homecoming queen, joined the cult in 1968. Now 73 years old she’s spent more than 50 years in prison and has made multiple parole requests. In 2021 the parole board approved her request, but it was blocked by California Governor Gavin Newsom. But his decision was overruled by the California Court of Appeal earlier this year. #news #truecrime #crime Subscribe here: http://bit.ly/ODNsubs TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@ondemandnews Twitter: https://twitter.com/ODN Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ODN/ If you wish to purchase any of our clips for commercial use, please visit: http://www.itnproductions.co.uk/news/
