Israel pounds Gaza Strip with airstrikes ahead of ground invasion

Israel Defense Forces said on Tuesday it launched 400 airstrikes on the Gaza Strip within the past day. The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said at least 704 people were killed in the attacks, mostly women and children, according to AP. Gaza’s 2.3 million people are running out of food, water and medicine since Israel sealed off the territory in response to Hamas’ Oct. 7 terror attack. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken told the U.N. on Tuesday that 33 Americans were among the 1,400 people killed during Hamas' Oct. 7 attack, which also included victims from more than 30 U.N. member states.
